Welcome to the web site dedicated to the DIY
(do-it yourself) fuel injection conversion of the MGC.
The Fuel Injection Project
This site documents my project to convert a 1969
MGC-GT to an MGC- GTi , using only the tools found
in an average household garage, together with my time &
knowledge of basic engineering - i.e. DIY mechanics, electronics
& acoustics. I wanted to do everything myself but have chosen
to use the services of a local retired engineer to fabricate a few
items for me to save time.
The project breaks down into phases:
- Research, options analysis & design: deciding what to do
& roughly which approach to adopt
- Mapped ignition: changing from a cheap electronic 'points
replacement' system to full processor controlled, programmable
ignition. (This phase
- Fuel injection preparation
Site evolution
The site is very much a 'work in progress' - it
is my project note book, evolving project plan & to do list.
Consequently, much of the site will remain under construction until
the project is completed. This means that bookmarks to specific
pages may break - sorry!
You may find that some page titles will have
little icons next to them. Feel free to open the icon legend in the
header bar to see what these mean! You may also find task items
embedded within the pages content - these are my to do items &
will form an end-to-end project checklist for anyone else who wants
to try something similar.
Enjoy the site & please come back to see how
the project progresses & do provide feedback if you find
anything particularly interesting, needs further clarification or
is simply wrong (you may save me learning from unnecessary
mistakes!)
Thanks for visiting!
